Awards Celebration Night
at
the Brew Works in Allentown
The awards & recognitions will be presented Tuesday
evening, June 22, 2010 in the Hamilton Room of the
Allentown Brew Works, 812 Hamilton Street, Allentown.
Tickets are $20 per person in advance, $25 at the door.

Ticket price includes fabulous hors d'oeuvres, pasta bar,
soft drinks, cash bar, dessert, coffee, and ten free basket
raffle tickets. There will be a silent auction,
entertainment by jazz singer Roberta Meek, and presentation
of the PA Diversity Photo Project. Event begins at 6pm.
Awards ceremony begins at 7:30pm. Dessert served at 8:30pm.

Activist and Leader of the Federal United ENDA
Mara
Keisling
Mara
Keisling is the Founding Director of the Washington based
National Center of Transgender Equality. She is at the helm
of the effort to pass the fully inclusive Employment
Non-Discrimination Act as one of the two steering committee
leaders of UnitedENDA, a position she shares with Rea
Carey, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian
Task Force. Originaly from PA, Keisling has led and served
on the boards of several state-wide GLBT organizations, and
helped write the language of Allentown’s
non-discrimination ordinance. PDN will be honoring Mara
Keisling with a special award.
Senator Arlen Specter
Also
invited to attend this important community event is Senator
Arlen Specter in recognition of his many years of support
and committment to the civil rights of the Gay, Lesbian,
Bisexual and Transgender Community.

Ernest Schlegel
Grassroots organizer in Reading, who worked to successfully
pass
the addition of sexual orientation and gender identity to
the City of Reading's anti-discrimination ordinance.
DJ Landis
Community Elder from Stonewall to present - long time
community volunteer, organizer, and activist.
Organizations:
GLEE at Air Products
The Gay
and Lesbian Empowered Employees’ group that worked
for Domestic Partner benefits at Air Products for many
years. Air Products announced the inclusion of benefits
last October.
Kutztown Allies
The Gay
Straight Alliance group at Kutztown University receives
this award for presenting great annual community outreach
events, including gender-bending shows to more than 700
university students each year, that have benefited local
GLBT community advocacy organizations.
Businesses:
Diamonz Nightclub and Restaurant
Receives
this award for more than a dozen years of commitment to
advocacy, support, and fundraising for the Gay, Lesbian,
Bisexual, and Transgender community.
Allentown Women's Center
Receives
this award for its commitment and direct services to
promote the health and welfare of the Lesbian and
Transgender community.
