All Souls Ecumenical Church
Fr. Dewayne Messenger

P.O. Box 15020,
Reading, PA 19612-5020

Berks County

Allsouls@ptd.net

All Souls Ecumenical Church is a progressive, inclusive and welcoming congregation. We celebrate diversity and are a predominantly GLBT church in the Reading area. Please join us for worship at 1pm on Sundays at the chapel at Calvary United Church of Christ, 640 Centre Ave. Reading, PA. The entrance for the chapel faces Oley Street.

The rector of All Souls is Fr. Dewayne Messenger. All Souls is a member of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion. The word “catholic” means “universal” it should not be understood to only refer to the church of Rome. The ECC is a new denomination which brings together several independent churches claiming an Old Catholic (Utrecht) heritage. The Old Catholic Church (Utrecht) is recognized by the Roman Catholic Church, but is not in full communion with the see of Rome. In our worship, we predominantly use liturgies in the Anglican Rite tradition, but are committed to include a variety of liturgies as we explore what it means for us to be a part of the “catholic” (universal) church.

Celtic Christian Church
Fr. Arthur Conquest

Po Box 299
Canadensis, PA

(Monroe County)

fatheraconquest@aol.com
www.celticchristianchurch.org

I'd like to introduce you to the The Celtic Christian Church's GLBT Ministry here in the Poconos. The Celtic Christian Church is an Old Catholic Celtic Rite Church with communities in Pennsylvania, and around the United States. Some of our priests and deacons work with Lutheran or Episcopal parishes, or as chaplains in hospitals and nursing homes, or as university professors, but all are pastors or deacons of small worshipping communities, or cell groups. Part of my own ministry involves the GLBT community who live here or visit.

We have five priests here in the Poconos, and in Eastern PA, each of whom are committed to the Celtic Christian Church\'s position on homosexuality. Additionally, we are in communion with other Old Catholic and Independent Catholic Church bodies whose priests are also available. We are available to assist you while you travel to the Poconos or in PA, if you do not belong to a Faith Community already. The Celtic Christian Church practices open Communion, and you are welcome to worship with us or with one of our Sister Churches around the United States.

We offer a SAFE spiritual home to those who seek Christ and are turned away from other Christian Churches, or those who have had no spiritual home and want one. We are in local contact with PFLAG and other supportive groups and will be happy to help you find the support you need.

In addition, for GLBT couples planning a commitment ceremony, priests of the Celtic Christian Church offer counseling, and planning assistance. I will sit with you to plan your ceremony so that it will reflect YOUR love as you express it publicly. If you do not have a place chosen for your ceremony, we can offer a few options for indoor or outdoor services in the Poconos.

Additionally, we have a working relationship with several area photographers, bakers, DJs, and resorts in this area who can assist you in planning those aspects of your celebration.

You can contact me personally by e-mail at: FatherAConquest@aol.com, or telephone to make an appointment to sit and plan your special day so that you will remember it.

Interweave Continental had a visible presence at the recent Unitarian Universalist Association's General Assembly (GA) in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida -- with over 3000 attendees. During GA, Interweave hosted an annual banquet with a presention of the Mark DeWolfe award celebrating longtime outstanding achievement in queer activism. Interweave's winning sermon was delivered to much applause. Congratulations to the winner, Rev. Amy Zucker Morgenstern for her sermon, How to Be a Great Ally (available online).

Interweave co-sponsored & provided local speaker, Allyson Diane Hamm for a well-received & attended panel workshop called Cutting Across Oppressions, which encouraged activism crossing racial, gender & sexual orientation lines. It focused on anti-discrimination laws & the case of Susan Stanton, a transwoman who lost her job in a very public way & the positive UU response coming from diverse racial, religious & other backgrounds.

Volunteers staffed a colorful booth featuring "Hate is Easy, Love Takes Courage" t-shirts , spray-on tattoos, & helpful literature. (Look for these at LV Pride, too!) Interweave decided to offer booth space to the UU Legislative Ministry so that support could be given to the fight to retain California same-gender marriage rights.

Lastly, Interweave co-sponsored a powerfully moving public witness demonstration, "Standing on the Side of Love" in support of laws inclusive of ALL families, with a particular focus on immigration, marriage & adoption rights.

Locally, Interweave recently had an inter-generational dance & plans to have a booth at Pride in the Park. Stop by & say hi to find out more about Interweave. You can also check them out on facebook or email: allysondiane@hotmail.com.
