THEATRE OUTLET announces its new cook book:
THEATRE OUTLET PLAYS WITH FOOD
www.theatreoutlet.org
During the last few years, Theatre Outlet's opening night gala celebrations have included wonderful receptions catered by FoodWorks, a small local catering firm. The delicious fare, always inspired by, and tailored to, each individual production, has prompted repeated requests for recipes. ''Theatre Outlet Plays With Food'' ($19.95 + $5.95 shipping) was created by Theatre Outlet fundraising chair Phil Healing of FoodWorks, select caterer to many Theatre Outlet soirees. The colorful, hard-cover collection includes recipes by top area chefs, including Chef Mike Adams of The Farmhouse, winner of the 2007 Pennsylvania PA Preferred Best Chef of Pennsylvania competition. The book includes recipes from friends, family, and supporters - and some from Russia, England, France, Australia, South Africa and Poland, as well as from Lehigh Valley restaurants, such as The Farmhouse, Edge, Abruzzi On Main, The Savory Grille, Lee Gribben's On Main, Vintage Restaurant, Haika's Kitchen, Wittman’s World Cheeses, and The Brew Works.
To purchase, log onto www.theatreoutlet.org or order by phone: 610-820-9270.
Just to get your mouth watering, here are a few examples of dishes included in Theatre Outlet Plays With Food:
• Seared Black Pepper Shrimp with Baby Arugula - Chef Michael Adams, The Farmhouse
• Lobster, Corn and Sweet Potato Fritters - Chef Shawn Doyle, Savory Grille
• Beer and Butter Pickles - Mike Fegley, The Brew Works
• Rhubarb Strawberry Pudding Cake - Haika's Kitchen
• Shrimp and Chorizo Fricassee - Chef Mike Pichetto, Vintage Restaurant
• Pink Lentil Scallops with Sweet Bell Pepper Sauce - Chef Lou Rosenblatt, Lee Gribben's On Main
• Sautéed Bay Scallops - Chef Tim Widrick, The Edge
• Traditional Fondue - Bill Wittman, Wittman's World Cheeses
And, straight from the pages of the book:
• Chipotle Vodka Martini, Shaken Not Stirred
4 oz (or however much you like) Grey Goose Vodka from the freezer
1 tiniest dribble Noilly Prat or other vermouth
1/4 chipotle pepper, dried, not in adobo sauce
Chipotle is dried jalapeno pepper. It is spelled with TL, not with LT, as some would mistakenly have you believe. So, impress people with your knowledge when you show them how to make this cocktail! Crush the chipotle pepper and add to the vodka. Seal in a container and leave in the fridge for at least an hour. Pour into a cocktail shaker and add the Noilly Prat, or not, if you like it really dry. Strain into your favorite Martini glass. Yeah, baby.
